Special Workshop: Structural Health Monitoring Course of Transportation Infrastructure Facilities

6/3/2015

During the first week of June, a group of 20 students gathered a 3-day accelerated short course on the structural health monitoring of transportation infrastructure facilities. The workshop offered participants 2-day of classroom lectures and half-day of field visit. The classroom lectures covered various SHM topics of concrete bridges as well as pavement and state-of-the-art sensor technologies, and provided hand-on experiences of various SHM sensors in the laboratory. The participants visited two bridges to learn the field SHM projects.

The workshop was led by two faculty members from the RE-CAST Team as below. Students from the RE-CAST consortium as well as non-consortium universities attended the workshop.

Dr. Hani Nassif, PE, PhD, FACI, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Rutgers University and Associate Director of RECAST

Dr. Alex Hak-Chul Shin, PE, PhD, Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Southern University and A&M College
