"The mission of the UTC is to build a solution-oriented research center that uses resources from a range of cities among its consortium members as a decentralized but comprehensive living laboratory. In order to accomplish this mission, the Center will study a number of challenging transportation problems and filed test novel solutions in close collaboration with end-users, city agencies, policy makers, private companies, and entrepreneurs. The research approach of the Center is the use of a system-of-system(SoS) perspective that integrates roads, transport service, energy grids, financial information, and other urban networks. The Center's novelty among its peers is the unique combination of the set of strengths and resources in urban informatics, connected technologies, behavioral informatics, and city partners that cannot be matched anywhere in the world" |
