Dr. Kamal Khayat visited the RIME Group to Hold a Seminar

Date: 5/9/2014, Friday

Dr. Kamal Khayat, from Missouri University of Science and Technology, visited the RIME Group on May 8-9, 2014 and held a Seminar on Friday May 9, 2014, entitled "Design and Performance of Fiber-reinforced Self-Consolidating Concrete in Infrastructure Repair". (Click here for the Flyer).

Drs. Hani Nassif. Elsayed A Elsayed, Najm Husam from Rutgers, Dr. Kaan Ozbay from NYU, Dr. Giri Venkiteela, Mr. Smmamunar Rashid, and David from NJDOT, and post-docs and students from Rutgers joined this meeting and discussed various topics related to the fiber-reinforced self-consolidating concrete.

Kamal H. Khayat joined the Missouri S&T faculty in August of 2011 as the Vernon and Maralee Jones Professor of Civil Engineering and is the Director of the Center for Infrastructure Engineering Studies. He is the Director of the Research in Concrete Applications for Sustainable Transportation (RE-CAST), University Transportation Center with Rutgers University as one of the Consortium members of the Federally-Supported Tier-1 Center including Missouri S&T, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Miami, and Southern University.

2014 RIME Group Seminar (speaker: Dr. Kamal Khayat, Director of RECAST)

Dr. Kamal H. Khayat, Ph.D. P.E. will hold a seminar about the Fiber-Reinforced Self-Consolidating Concrete on Friday, May 9, 2014.

You can find details in the flyer. (Click here to download the Flyer).

Description: The seminar presents results of a study on the performance of fiber-reinforced self-consolidating concrete (FR-SCC) as a structural repair material for concrete structures. The effect of fiber type and volume on workability, mechanical properties, and visco-elastic properties is evaluated. The structural response of composite reinforced concrete beams repaired using FR-SCC is evaluated. Test results indicated that the optimized self-consolidating repair mixtures can successfully restore the flexural capacity of the test beams, showing a great potential in repair and infrastructure rehabilitation.
